It was interesting and sobering to see so much new construction along with older buildings.

There were boys in costumes in nearly every city/ town we visited. These boys seemed slightly less bored than others.


We could always tell when there were cruise ships stopping by. The woman in the middle is wearing a Split soccer jersey.

The north/south "streets" in Dubrovnik were all up and down steep stairs. East/west walkways were mercifully level.

St. Blasius' church. Every city/ town we visited seemed to be preparing for a cultural festival. Here we saw the dress rehearsal for opening ceremonies.


We took a break in the heat to go to Lokrum- an island nature reserve just off of Dubrovnik.




Sea urchins are the only thing you have to look out for in Croatian waters and they are quite dark against the light rock. I didn't get a good picture, but this area had many of them.




We took a day trip to Montenegro, a smaller and more poor country than Croatia.


Kotor, in Montenegro, has a wall nearly 3 miles long going far up into the mountains. It was begun in the 9th century and finished when the city was under Venician occupation in the 18th century.
