After a brief hike up hill, we could see sheep, caribou, and a moose. None close enough to capture on film.

Cindy spotted a fox looking at us as we were gathered around our fire.

Arkell taking a nap in the sun- after having been brushed.

A view from lunch.

Cindy coming down the hill. It was quite steep and frightening to go down with a horse.
Often as we rode up mountains we would get to a fairly high elevation to find a plateau or meadow surrounded by the peaks of the mountains.
There was snow on this plateau. We camped fairly close to here for a couple of nights and went hiking in the peaks.
Ra found a porcupine, but he learned his lesson earlier in the summer and didn't touch it.
Cody liked to nuzzle our tent. Throwing grass at him was effective for shooing him away, but he still managed to tear it.
Cindy switched to Cody as we rode across the plateau. He is a good follower.
As we rode our horses across the plateau towards the peaks I spotted some animals. The grizzly and her cub ran away from us, over the mountain.
After the two grizzlies went over the mountain, we saw another one.
He wanted to check us out.
Fortunately he didn't get close, just went downwind to check us out and then wandered in the direction of our camp.
Arkell is good at standing at attention when any new animal is around, including caribou on a far away ridge.
We followed our original plan to hike to the peaks even though the mama and baby grizzlies had gone that way. Fortunately we didn't see them. Our tent is just visible near the center of the photo. The horses are just cut off at the bottom.
A series of 11 shots. We had a 360° view from the top.
